Ellen Oran Kaden joined Campbell as Senior Vice President–Law and Government Affairs in April 1998. She is the chief legal officer of the company and a principal advisor to the Board of Directors on legal and corporate governance matters. Ellen reports to Douglas R. Conant, President and Chief Executive Officer.

Prior to joining Campbell, Ellen was Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of CBS Inc. She previously practiced law at Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York City.

Ellen earned her bachelor of arts degree from Cornell University and was a Graduate Fellow of the Danforth Foundation at the University of Chicago. After earning her J.D. from Columbia University School of Law, she served as law clerk to the Honorable Marvin E. Frankel of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, and then as a member of the Faculty of Law at Columbia University, where she taught contracts, civil procedure, and commercial law.

Ellen has been a Trustee of Columbia University since 1996. She is a member of the Corporate General Counsel Section of the American Bar Association and of the Federal Bar Counsel.
