Hydrolyzed plant or vegetable proteins have naturally occurring glutamate. These flavor-enhancing proteins are derived from corn, wheat, soybeans, or other vegetables. During preparation, the proteins are completely broken down into amino acids, which are an essential part of our diets.
We list hydrolyzed plant proteins by their common names in the ingredient statements on our product labels. We do not include them under the broader listings of “spices” or “natural flavors.” We recommend that consumers always evaluate a product based on the ingredient listing on its label.
