Campbell Receives McDonald’s “2014 Best of Sustainable Supply” Recognition for Community Impact

 

Campbell’s “Just Peachy” salsa project has earned the recognition of McDonald’s in their “2014 Best of Sustainable Supply” report. In partnership with the Food Bank of South Jersey, Campbell’s Just Peachy salsa utilized undersized or slightly blemished local peaches that weren’t viable for retail sale. Campbell donated the manufacturing and packaging costs, while 10 of our suppliers donated ingredients and packaging. Employee volunteers boxed and packed the jars for retail distribution. The profits – $100,000 last year – provide a sustainable source of funding for the Food Bank’s nine hunger relief programs servicing 171,000 food insecure individuals in southern NJ. McDonald’s “2014 Best of Sustainable Supply” report highlights how suppliers achieved significant results by identifying opportunities and applying sustainable solutions in diverse places around the world.
