Inspiring Children, Bringing Families Together

News

Our World Headquarters campus was buzzing last month as we welcomed a couple hundred energetic Campbell’s kids to Camden for Take Our Children to Work Day.

There were nine workshops such as developing your own Wisest Kid recipes, making your own soup and staying safe on the Internet. The children could choose three workshops to attend, which gave them a well-rounded view of different business functions within Campbell, as well as different future career opportunities.

Below are some highlights from this year’s workshops:

1. Packaging engineers of the future:

Campbell packaging engineers taught the children the importance of packaging through an “egg-drop” contest. After hearing about the functions and different types of packaging, the kids became packaging engineers themselves and invented a Campbell product to test its strength by dropping it from a ladder onto a “bulls eye” in the Campbell Employee Center Exhibition Hall.

2. The next generation of Wisest Kid recipes:

Above, kids tasted four of the Wisest Kid recipes — including mini pot pies and tater-tot casserole — in the Campbell Consumer Test Kitchen and discussed their thoughts on the recipes, ideas for improvement and what recipes they might create for a “mini” recipe.

3. Future soup researchers and developers:

From dressing the part in a manufacturing plant to the types of pasta and specific ingredients used, kids experienced the wonder of making their own Campbell’s pasta and soup in Campbell Research and Development Kitchens and Labs.

In addition to the workshops, Campbell employees and their children were invited to volunteer at a community service opportunity. These activities included lending a helping hand at the Food Bank of South Jersey,  designing cards for Philabundace to send to senior citizens in need, and making displays for the Animal Welfare Association’s Paws and Feet 5K and Doggie Fun Day.

Judging by the smiles, the children and their proud parents enjoyed the day immensely.
