Charles Vila, VP, Global Consumer & Customer Insights, was awarded the National Diversity Council (NDC)’s Multicultural Leadership Award at its 5th Annual Diversity & Leadership Conference on September 4th.
The NDC’s Multicultural Leadership Award is designed to recognize individuals of color who have made a difference through their achievements and exemplify the ability to excel in their respective fields.
As head of Global Consumer & Customer Insights, Charles earned DNC’s Multicultural Leadership Award due to his extensive track record in driving business success by understanding people’s needs, habits and behaviors, and identifying meaningful and lasting ways to connect Campbell’s brands to their lives. A key element of his approach involves a full immersion into consumers’ everyday lives by interacting with people as they shop, cook, dine and play.
Nominees of this award must meet certain criteria, including:
- The demonstration of leadership excellence in the public and/or private sectors,
- A sustained record of accomplishments and/or contributions to field of work throughout scope of his/her career
- Retention of commendable reputation with colleagues or superiors
- The demonstration of leadership and commitment to community well-being and/or high visibility in the community.
Charles and his team of more than 30 professionals around the world help brands like Campbell’s Condensed soup, Campbell’s Chunky soup, V8 beverages, Prego pasta sauces, Pepperidge Farm and Arnott’s build connections to consumers.
In 2012, Charles received the award from Diversity MBA magazine as ‘Top 50 under 50 Executive Diversity Leaders.’
