The Season for Giving – Part II

News

Employees across Campbell are enthusiastically sharing season’s greetings — along with toys, gift cards, food, and more — with their neighbors in need. It’s one more way we’re living into Campbell’s purpose, ensuring that what we do every day matters, and helping communities thrive.

Below are glimpses of how employees gave their time and talents in Napoloeon, Ohio; Campbell World Headquarters in Camden, NJ; and Pepperidge Farm’s corporate office in Norwalk, Conn. You can also click here to see yesterday’s story covering the donations from Maxton, N.C.; Toronto, Canada; and Australia.

World Headquarters: A Credit to the Community

More than 130 teenagers living in shelters in Campbell’s hometown of Camden, N.J., will be receiving $3,275 in gift cards this holiday, thanks to employees’ donations to the Center for Family Services.

In addition, hundreds of toys were collected for Camden youths served by the Salvation Army (see feature photo). Employees sorted and delivered the toys to the organization’s Kroc Center, where a toy store was established for Camden families to pick a toy for their special someone.

Napoleon, Ohio: Family Values

For the 22nd year, employees in Napoleon, Ohio, have sponsored families through Project We Care and Project Share. Within three days of posting, all 54 gift requests from five families were handled by generous employees.

“When going through the many years of notes kept from all the years we have participated,” said Karen Gineman, Executive Assistant, “I found a calendar page with this message: ‘If you have much, give of your wealth; If you have little, give of your heart.'”

The team also continued its longtime tradition of helping colleagues within the facility. In 1994, when packaging employees learned that a co-worker’s husband had lost his foot due to complications from diabetes, they held a raffle to raise money for the family. Ever since then, they’ve held the annual raffle and expanded to help more people in need.

This year’s raffle included coffee makers, books, shoes, handcrafted shirts, candles, and purses. Proceeds are expected to reach roughly $3,000, which will be distributed among four Napoleon employees who deal with medical issues in their families.

Pepperidge Farm: Moments of Joy

The scene is picture-perfect at Pepperidge Farm’s Norwalk, Conn., corporate office, where a holiday giving tree overflows with 150 gifts for the Family and Children Agency, which distributes the presents to children living in foster homes who otherwise might not receive holiday gifts.
