Drawing Back the Curtain: What’s In Our Food?

We’re taking a big step towards being more open and honest with our consumers – about what goes into our food, about how we make our food and about the choices behind the ingredients we use.

In an effort to build on the trust we’ve earned over 146 years, today we’re introducing a new platform, whatsinmyfood.com, where people can access a wide range of information about our foods. We’ve been listening to our consumers and want to address their questions and concerns by having the information they need in one, easily accessible place.

This site provides content on several of Campbell’s top brands, such as iconic Campbell’s Condensed Tomato and Chicken Noodle soups, Slow Kettle Style and Healthy Request soups and Campbell’s Dinner Sauces. Over the next year, our efforts will expand to include all major brands in the U.S. and Canada, with plans to expand globally over the next three years.

We don’t expect everyone to agree with our choices, and we know we have a great deal of work ahead of us. In order to create a more open and honest dialogue, we welcome feedback that will help us on this journey.

We believe this is just the beginning. Have a look around! whatsinmyfood.com

Why are you using High Fructose Corn Syrup in your Tomato Soup?

    • CampbellSoupCo

Hi Pete. We use HFCS to balance the acidity of the tomatoes and to help give the soup its smooth texture. If you’d like to know more, we invite you to learn about the choices behind our food here: http://www.whatsinmyfood.com/the-choices-behind-our-food/

Pure cane sugar will reduce acidity.

Sugar is the 2nd ingredient in the tomato olive oil soup they make. Problem is, I don’t need it. I’m cutting sugar from my diet. I never thought I’d have to worry about soup! Boy, was I naive. I’m going to make my own tomato soup from now on.

Not only is there high fructose corn syrup in your tomato soup, but it’s listed as the 2nd ingredient! That’s ridiculous! I’ll never buy another soup with HFCS or sugar in it. Does Cambell’s make a soup without either? So far I haven’t found one, your brand or any other. Looks like I’m learning how to make my own soups.

Amy’s, at Amys.com. Many stores carry it.

        I’ll look for it. Thanks!

For years as a teenager, my afterschool feed was Campbells, beef barley soup in the winter, cream of mushroom over a can of green beans the rest of the time. Delmonte just started nonGMO label on their green beans, so Campbells, waiting, waiting, waiting on you. Long time, no Campbells. Waiting, waiting, waiting.

Transparency is a start. Now, the task will be to start removing more of the unnecessary ingredients. I’m glad to see some progress being made toward removing MSG, but you have no reason to include it in any products. So, how about if you just stop using it?

Get rid of the MSG so I can enjoy all the Campbell products. Finding msg free products is quite a chore and limits available choices.

    • Ed

They didn’t remove the MSG. They changed the name to yeast extract… Exactly the same as MSG. Search for Yeast Extract on the web. This is a common trick to hide MSG. Hey, Campbell’s. MSG is harmful to lots of people. It causes migraine headaches. Get rid of it! Be honest!
