Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) Conference 2015: Resilient Business, Resilient World

News

Campbell’s President and CEO Denise Morrison discussed the power of purpose at the 2015 BSR Conference on Nov. 3. Morrison highlighted the rapidly changing food industry, Campbell’s company purpose and the changes the company is making to respond to the evolving consumer landscape. Morrison also highlighted Campbell’s sustainability commitments and the company’s Healthy Communities program, which promotes better nutrition, expanded physical fitness and access to fresh foods for children.

Morrison explained how Campbell’s company purpose begins at the farm and ends at the spoon and how every detail in between matters. “We’re leveraging our company purpose (Real Food that Matters for Life’s Moments) as a filter for decision making and as a tool to drive greater transparency about our food,” said Morrison. “That transparency supports both a resilient supply chain, and resilient healthy communities where we live and work.”

Morrison also discussed how Campbell is influenced by all parts of its supply chain. “We depend on sustainable agriculture, clean water and a resilient supply chain to produce the crops and ingredients needed to make our food. Many of you may not think of us as farmers, but we are the largest carrot grower in North America and our tomatoes come from generations of family farmers that have been in our network for more than 100 years.”

“We strive to support those farms and farming families, and they in turn, year after year, continue to help us serve our consumers who rely on our products for their own moments that matter.”

The BSR Conference brings together sustainability leaders and practitioners to build the business of a better world.
