Joy to the World

News

More than 800 gifts – including 200 bicycles. At least 140 gift cards. Wrapping services. Tons – literally, tons – of food. Precious time with family.

These are just some of the ways Campbell employees are ensuring that their neighbors can truly enjoy their moments that matter during the December holiday season.

Read on to share in the joy of some of the traditional gift-giving activities employees are organizing and supporting.

Campbell World Headquarters: Generosity is in the Cards… and the Presents

Old Navy, Target, Wal-Mart and Best Buy are just some of the stores where teens living in Center for Family Services shelters will be shopping for their gifts this holiday season, thanks to our World Headquarters employees who provided 140 gift cards totaling $3,500.

Employees also donated approximately 320 toys for Camden youth through the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program (see feature photo). In addition to individual contributions, many of the gift cards and presents were collected through team projects, including the Human Resources holiday party and the Campbell’s Young Professional Network happy hour holiday gathering.

“Helping brighten a child’s holiday is what brightens mine, and I was thrilled to lead the holiday giving program again this year,” said Tracy Wilhelm, Senior Administrator, Public Affairs. “I am so proud of our generous Campbell employees who worked together this year to ensure we brightened many children’s holidays.

The U.S. Retail team also collected bags of food for the Salvation Army’s Kroc Center by offering an immunity challenge in its annual “white elephant” gift exchange. Employees who donated a full brown paper shopping bag or two plastic grocery bags of non-perishable foods, each received a raffle ticket for the chance to not have their gift “stolen” during last week’s exciting exchange.

Maxton, N.C.: Gifts on Wheels

As the morning of December 11 dawned, more than 30 employees and retirees from the Maxton, N.C., plant loaded an 18-wheeler truck with donated toiletries, toys, diapers, warm clothes, 200 bicycles, 10,000 pounds of potatoes, and eight pallets of soup and beverages. The goods were delivered to church and community centers across Robeson and Scotland counties.

“Family and taking care of one another are at the heart of what makes it wonderful to be a part of Team Maxton,” said Jamie Woodell, Human Resources Leader, who has led the campaign for several years. “The employees go above and beyond to give back to those who are less fortunate in our communities. I am lucky to have an opportunity to lead this event with them and make such a difference in the lives of others.”

In October, the Maxton plant also donated more than 6,000 cases of product to victims of the devastating flooding in South Carolina.

Napoleon, Ohio: We Care

The Napoleon team continued its 23-year tradition of holiday giving by providing gifts for four adopted families through its Project We Care program. Participating employees each buy gifts for a member of one of the families, who pick up their gifts Christmas week.
