A neighborly partnership to support our communities

Community

In March, we announced our commitment to provide food and funds to support food banks and pantries in 33 of our hometown communities. Our Supply Chain and Community Affairs teams worked together to develop a plan to disperse the food to our community partners as quickly as possible.

Solving a logistics challenge

Two of those food banks, Feeding Tampa Bay in Tampa, Fla., and Utah Food Bank in Salt Lake City, Utah, are located far from any of our distribution centers, and were proving difficult to reach.

Faced with this challenge, our Community and Government Affairs teams received an offer from Jeff Brown of NFI, a Camden, NJ-based international third-party logistics provider, and one of our suppliers, to help get our product donations from point A to point B.

Roma McCaig, Campbell’s Vice President of Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability, connected with Jeff, who confirmed NFI would donate its transportation services to make sure our food reaches our neighbors in need. Within a day, a plan was in place, and the food is en route to the food banks.

Working with our Camden neighbors

Roma commented, “Being able to work with a carrier partner to find a way to move food from our distribution centers and warehouses to food banks in tougher-to-reach areas has been one of the most meaningful things I’ve worked on in my 3+ years at Campbell. Having a supplier so easily, with no hesitation, say ‘we’d love to help’ meant a lot.”

“NFI is extremely grateful for the opportunity to work with our local partner, Campbell Soup Company, on this much needed endeavor,” said David Broering, President, Non-Asset at NFI Industries. “We recognize that food banks around the country are struggling to meet demand in these unprecedented times, and we feel fortunate to be in a position to help those in need around the U.S. in this small way.”

Thank you to our Campbell team and our Camden neighbors at NFI for partnering with us to help feed Americans in need and to support the greater good.
