Campbell Names General Contractor for New 80,000-Square Foot Employee Services Building

Press Releases

CAMDEN, N.J.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–

Campbell Soup Company (NYSE:CPB) today announced the appointment
of Torcon Inc. as the general contractor for its new
80,000-square-foot employee services building.

Torcon is one of the leading construction services firms in the
nation with headquarters in Red Bank, N.J. and an operations office at
the Philadelphia Navy Yard. The company specializes in corporate
buildings, biotech and pharmaceutical facilities, academic buildings
and healthcare facilities, among others. Torcon was selected because
of its experience in completing similar high-quality projects and its
knowledge of constructing LEED-certified buildings. Torcon completed
the new Rutgers School of Law in Camden and is currently construction
manager for the redevelopment of the Cherry Hill Mall.

“Torcon is a natural fit for this project,” said Robert Zane,
Campbell’s Vice President of Real Estate Operations. “The company is
headquartered right here in New Jersey and is a leader in the region’s
construction industry.”

Campbell’s new employee services building has been designed by
Philadelphia-based architects KlingStubbins and will feature a
dramatic glass entrance and lobby with super-graphics. The building
will include a new cafe, fitness center, company store and credit
union, as well as additional office space, conference rooms and a
learning and development center.

Consistent with Campbell’s commitment to corporate social
responsibility and environmental sustainability, the new building will
be an environmentally-friendly, LEED-certified (Leadership in Energy
and Environmental Design) “green” facility. Some of the
environmentally efficient features of the new building include energy
efficient HVAC, water conservation, recycled building materials, and
daylight harvesting techniques, among others.

Torcon’s Co-President Joseph Torcivia added, “We’re thrilled to be
part of the project team for the employee services building and are
committed to helping Campbell realize its vision. The facility clearly
has tremendous significance to Campbell, as well as to the state,
Camden County and the City of Camden. We look forward to continuing
our strong relationship and record of success with the building trades
and workers in Camden.”

The new building is part of a broader project to revitalize
Camden’s Gateway District. Plans are underway to create an office park
that will bring many benefits to the region, including:

-- Revitalization - The planned office park will sit on
approximately 100 acres, with Campbell's campus anchoring the
development on approximately 40 acres. The proposed office
park would cover parcels that previously contained vacant and
neglected buildings, empty parking lots and other sites not
        currently being utilized.

-- Development - The planned office park will include up to
approximately 200,000 square feet of office space. Campbell
will be the master redeveloper of the area and will work with
state and local officials to attract developers and other
        businesses to Camden.

-- Improved Roadways and Utilities - The state, city and county
plan to invest in the area's infrastructure to improve roads
and upgrade the water and sewer service in the area.

-- Greenways - Campbell has dedicated a portion of its land to
Camden Greenways, an organization that helps preserve natural
areas along the rivers running through Camden. The land will
be used to create multi-use public access trails and pathways.

Campbell continues to make progress on the project. The company
has acquired more than five acres of land in the immediate area for
redevelopment. In July 2008, Campbell demolished the abandoned and
graffiti-covered Sears Tire and Battery building, located next to the
long-neglected Sears building, on Admiral Wilson Boulevard.

Located in Camden since its founding in 1869, Campbell is the
longest-standing corporate tenant and the only Fortune 500 company in
Camden. The company employs approximately 1,200 full-time employees
and 500 contractors at its headquarters. Campbell has long been an
active participant in Camden’s redevelopment through numerous company
initiatives and ongoing activities of the Campbell Soup Foundation.
