Campbell Soup Company Launches Souper Recipe Contest and Cook-off for Foodservice Professionals

Press Releases

CAMDEN, N.J., Nov 05, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Campbell Soup Company’s (NYSE: CPB) North America Foodservice division announced the launch of Campbell’s(R) Souper Recipe Contest and Cook-offin Foodservice. The first-ever operator recipe contest is designed to encourage food service operators to discover how Campbell’s 50-oz. cooking soups can be utilized in their recipes.

“Campbell’s U.S. Soup advertising campaign touts ‘It’s Amazing What Soup Can Do(TM),’ and this message is equally relevant in Foodservice,” said Erica Wilson, Associate Brand Manager, North America Foodservice, Campbell Soup Company. “Using soup as an ingredient provides flavorful and cost-effective menu solutions to operators for all eating occasions.”

From November 1, 2010 to January 31, 2011, operators have the chance to demonstrate their culinary skills by submitting a flavorful new recipe using 50 oz. Campbell’s soups and Swanson(R) broths. Recipes can be entered in one of the following categories: Breakfast, Brunch/Lunch, Appetizers/Starters or EntrĂ©es.

The contest is intended to excite operators about the benefits of using soup as an ingredient while also illustrating how Campbell’s array of 50 oz. soups can help a food service operator control costs. These savings can be achieved by managing labor cost and increasing efficiency in the kitchen. Of course, spectacular and unexpected culinary results will help to differentiate the operator from competitors.

Campbell offers 15 varieties of its condensed and Healthy Request cooking soups and Swanson broths in 50 oz. cans, including Cream of Chicken, Tomato and Healthy Request Cream of Mushroom soups.

A total of four recipes will be selected to compete in the Cook-off on March 31, 2011. A representative for each recipe will be transported to Campbell’s World Headquarters, where they will cook for a panel of judges to win the Grand Prize–their recipe featured on a Campbell’s soup label and the Campbell’s Foodservice website, plus a shopping spree in Campbell’s company store.
