CAMDEN, N.J. December 8, 2008 – Campbell Soup employees are making this a happy holiday season for Camden, New Jersey families. On Thursday, December 11, 2008, employees will donate at least $50,000 worth of holiday gifts to agencies in Camden that will deliver the gifts to needy families in time for the holidays. More than 870 employees have adopted 80 families and will be donating approximately 1,600 gifts ranging from video games, toys, clothing, and household items including a washing machine and a bed.
Now in its 14th year, Campbell’s Adopt-A-Family program works with local agencies to improve the quality of life for Camden residents. The gifts are critically important for many families this year because of the tough economic times. Approximately 400 Camden residents have been identified and matched with Campbell employees who were provided a wish list and clothing sizes so they could shop for specific gifts.
The program is run through the Campbell Soup Foundation. A grant from the Foundation supplies supermarket gift cards to all participating families. Partners in the Adopt-a-Family program include Camden-based agencies New Beginnings United Methodist Church, Hispanic Family Center, Church of the Holy Name, Victory Temple, St. Joseph’s Pro-Cathedral, the Center for Family Services and The Bridge.
Traveling toward Campbell Place (on S. 10th Street), make a right onto Mt. Ephraim. Make a 45 degree left at the traffic light onto Haddon Avenue. Go straight and make a left onto Pine Street. At the next stop sign, go right on Princess Avenue. The dock is located on the left.
