Campbell To Add New Juice Line In Paris, Texas; Company Expects To Add 65 New Jobs

Press Releases

CAMDEN, N.J., October 16, 2008-Campbell Soup Company (NYSE: CPB) today announced plans to invest in its Paris, Texas manufacturing facility by adding juice production equipment. This new investment in Paris will enable Campbell to produce “V8” beverages including “V8” 100-percent vegetable juices, “V8 V-Fusion” juices, “V8 Splash” juice drinks and “Campbell’s” tomato juice. Campbell currently produces its “V8” beverages at its Napoleon, Ohio and Sacramento, California manufacturing facilities.

Campbell’s beverage portfolio, which is well known for its nutrition profile, includes “V8” vegetable juice, as well as “V8 Splash” juice drinks and the innovative “V8 V-Fusion” beverage. The beverage unit has been one of Campbell’s best performing business the past two fiscal years.

Campbell began operating its Paris facility in Lamar County in 1964. The company currently produces its new “Campbell’s Select Harvest” soups, “Campbell’s Chunky” soups, “Campbell’s Healthy Request” soups, “Campbell’s Red and White” soups, “Swanson” broth, “Prego” pasta sauce and “Pace” salsa at the 1.5-million-square-foot facility. Campbell employs approximately 890 people at Paris.

Campbell expects to create 65 new full-time jobs in Paris over a three-year period as a result of the expansion.

Construction of the line is scheduled to begin in November. Campbell is expected to begin production on the new line in the summer of 2009.

“Campbell’s decision to invest in the Paris facility demonstrates its confidence in our quality work force and our capability to efficiently produce products,” said Mike Winkler, Vice President, Manufacturing–Paris, South Plainfield and Milwaukee Operations. “We are pleased to help support the continued growth of Campbell’s beverage business. With this added production, Campbell will be able to reduce transportation needs and meet the consumer demand for V8 products across the Southwest. The addition of this juice line will strengthen the foundation of the Paris facility.”

In 2005, Campbell added the necessary technology to produce its “Campbell’s Chucky” soups at Paris. In 1998, Campbell expanded the facility to include the “Prego” pasta sauce and “Pace” Mexican sauce operations, which almost doubled the size of production for the facility.
