Green Bay Packers Fans Do It Again!

Press Releases

For the Seventh Consecutive Season, Packers Fans Take Home the Campbell’s(R) Chunky(TM) Soup “Click for Cans” Championship and a Soup-er Donation

CAMDEN, N.J.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–
Though it’s been more than a decade since the Green Bay Packers have
been to the Super Bowl, their loyal fans continue to rack up the
championships! The 2008 season was no exception for Packer Nation, as
they continued their winning tradition in securing their seventh
consecutive Campbell’s® Chunky™ soup “Click for Cans”
Championship after defeating the fans of the Buffalo Bills.

For the past nine years, in an effort to tackle hunger in America, Campbell
Soup Company (NYSE:CPB)
has invited NFL fans to harness their
competitive team spirit for a good cause as part of Chunky soup’s
“Click for Cans” online food drive, where fans can earn soup donations
for their local community food banks. Fans were encouraged to log on to www.chunky.com
every day for 17 weeks, where they clicked on the helmet of their
favorite team to register their vote.

This season’s competition was different from years past, featuring
weekly team match-ups that mirrored those of the NFL’s regular season
(in prior seasons, the team with the greatest number of total “clicks”
over the course of the entire season, was named the overall winner).
Following the regular season match ups, the teams with the top four
“Click for Cans” records from each conference battled it out in
bracket-style playoffs that culminated with the championship match
between the Packers and the Bills.

Both the Bills and Packers went into the post season undefeated in their
conferences, and quickly dominated all competition in the playoffs to
earn each team a spot in the Championship as well as assuring a 12,000
can donation to both the Food Bank of Western New York (Bills) and
America’s Second Harvest of Wisconsin (Packers).

The Packers then toppled the Bills, 187,640 to 163,011, in the
Championship round to earn an additional 5,000 cans of soup for
America’s Second Harvest of Wisconsin and Second Harvest Foodbank of
Southern Wisconsin, as well as a seventh consecutive “Click for Cans”
crown.

Fans of the other 30 NFL teams did not go home empty-handed however, as
every NFL team received a 1,000 can donation for their local Feeding
America food bank at the start of the season.

“I would like to congratulate the Green Bay Packers and Buffalo Bills on
a fantastic ‘Click for Cans’ season,” said Doug Brand, Campbell’s
Chunky
soup Brand Manager. “Packers fans have proven their
dedication to fighting hunger in Wisconsin once again, and we’d like to
thank them for their continued support of the Tackling Hunger®
program and their dedication to the ‘Click for Cans’ competition.”

Now in its 11th season, the Campbell’s Chunky/NFL
Tackling Hunger
program remains committed to addressing the issue of
hunger in America, especially as food banks struggle to meet the rising
demands to provide nourishing, protein packed meals to those in need.
The Chunky/NFL Tackling Hunger program included Chunky
Weigh-In events with LaDainian Tomlinson and Adrian Peterson, support of
Tomlinson’s annual “Giving Thanks with LT” Thanksgiving event in San
Diego and direct donations of Campbell’s Chunky soup to food
banks to fight hunger in all NFL communities.

Campbell Soup Company has donated more than three million pounds of food
to Feeding America food banks nationwide over the past year. For more
