NFL Draft Helps Tackle Hunger – Courtesy of Campbell’s(R) Chunky Soup and Number One Pick; Campbell’s Chunky/NFL Tackling Hunger(TM) Program to Make Soup-er Donation in Name of Number One Pick to Local Food Bank

Press Releases

CAMDEN, N.J.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–April 27, 2006–Campbell Soup
Company (NYSE:CPB) will announce a soup-er donation on behalf of the
first player chosen in the 2006 NFL Draft, to be held at Radio City
Music Hall in New York City on April 29. Chunky soup will donate 1,000
cans of soup in the player’s name to a food bank affiliated with the
team making the first overall draft pick on April 29. Currently, the
Houston Texans have the first pick in the draft. As part of the
effort, the first draft pick will also be presented with the
first-ever bronze “Chunky-Man” trophy. Taking cues from classic Greek
and Italian sculpture, the “Chunky-Man” powerfully holds onto an NFL
football with the left arm, yet much remains unfinished, symbolizing a
strong beginning to an NFL career, but one that will require much work
to complete. The #1 jersey is symbolic of the traditional awarding of
a #1 jersey to the first player selected by his new team.

Campbell’s Chunky soup has been a proud sponsor of the NFL for 9
years and for the past two seasons, Campbell’s Chunky soup and the NFL
have teamed up with professional tailgater Joe Cahn to raise awareness
for hunger and assist communities across America by generating
important food donations as part of the Campbell’s Chunky/NFL Tackling
Hunger(TM) program. The “Commissioner of Tailgating” has traveled more
than 32,000 miles each of the past two NFL seasons and Campbell’s
Chunky soup has donated one can of soup per mile to benefit local food
banks affiliated with each NFL team. Last season’s donation of Chunky
soup was redirected to benefit hurricane victims across the Gulf Coast
region.

Hunger continues to be a very serious problem in the United
States, affecting more than 38 million Americans, including 14 million
children, according to a recent report by America’s Second Harvest.
Since 1997, Campbell Soup Company has donated more than 34 million
cans of soup to hunger relief organizations through the Campbell’s
Chunky/NFL Tackling Hunger program. With the support of the brand’s
spokespeople, including Donovan and Wilma McNabb, the Campbell’s
Chunky/NFL Tackling Hunger program seeks to raise awareness of hunger
in America.

“Hunger awareness is an important issue in our country and
unfortunately, one that is often overlooked by many,” said Jessica
Paul, Associate Brand Manager, Campbell’s Chunky soup. “We remain
committed to tackling hunger nationwide and we’re honored to be able
to help make a difference in local communities.”

All NFL players participating in the Campbell’s Chunky/NFL
Tackling Hunger(TM) program were secured by PLAYERS INC, the licensing
and marketing subsidiary of the NFL Players Association.
