Bringing the best of big and small to Natural Products EXPO WEST

You might be asking why a nearly 150-year-old food company like Campbell not only has some of our brands exhibiting at Natural Products EXPO WEST, but also why our CEO Denise Morrison just delivered the keynote.

The ethos of #ExpoWest has definitely influenced the way we at Campbell think, talk & act about our food + company. #CEODenise

For us, it’s all about our purpose. Brands that are now part of the Campbell family have long been members of the Expo community — Bolthouse Farms, Plum Organics and Garden Fresh Gourmet — and have each played an important role at Campbell embracing an expansive and inclusive purpose, Real Food That Matters for Life’s Moments.

Here at Campbell, we’re viewing the future through the lens of strategic foresight. It’s a methodical approach to understanding and anticipating how today’s changes will present tomorrow’s disruptions – and opportunities. Denise talked about this process, and how it led to four emerging platforms we are following for growth:

That’s why translating strategic foresight into innovation and ultimately into action is so critical. It’s the single most important thing we can do to drive growth. In turn, it will create new opportunities for our employees; it will lead to more affordable, delicious and real food for consumers; it will drive growth for customers; it will build a better world for our neighbors; and it will create increased value for investors.

Denise closed her keynote sharing how we aspire to be the “Biggest Small Food Company” … a company with the entrepreneurial spirit, innovation and transparency of a small company … and one with the scale to make real food safe, affordable and accessible to all people. It’s about making a profit and a difference.

One example is The Soulfull Project, a mission-focused start-up within Campbell. It’s focused on helping everyone, regardless of income, access the best real food possible. It was founded by four passionate Campbell employees and launched in August. For every serving purchased of The Soulfull Project we will donate a serving of 4 Grain cereal to a regional food bank.

Along with Plum, The Soulfull Project is Campbell’s second public benefit corporation.

At Campbell, that is being the best of small and the best of big.

Being at EXPO WEST is a natural fit for us to celebrate the new ways we’re thinking about our real food, our company and our role in bringing future change to the food system.
