NFL linebacker and “Mama’s Boy” Clay Matthews and Campbell Soup Company partnered to support local communities with the “Sacks for Soup” program. Each time Matthews sacked an opposing quarterback during the 2013 NFL season, Campbell donated 1,000 cans of soup to a local food bank in the opposing team’s city and 1,000 cans to a food bank in Green Bay, Wis.
As soup-season is still in full swing, Matthews and Campbell Soup Company celebrated the culmination of the very successful “Sacks For Soup” campaign this week with a donation of over 5,000 cans of soup to the Greater West Hollywood Food Coalition. In partnership with Matthews, Campbell has donated over 40,000 cans of soup to local food banks across the country and $18,000 to Matthews’ charity, CM3 Charitable Fund.
Matthews, former USC All-American and current Green Bay Packers linebacker, joined the ranks of an elite group as Campbell’s Chunky “Mama’s Boy” for the 2013-14 NFL season.
