You watched him help lead the Green Bay Packers to victory in Super Bowl XLV. This year, you can watch linebacker Clay Mathews help lead Campbell’s® ChunkyTM soup, the Official Soup Sponsor of the NFL, to a winning season as our newest “Mama’s Boy” spokesperson.
The latest in a series of popular campaigns launched in 1997, this year’s entry once again takes an unexpected approach to reminding guys that Campbell’s® ChunkyTM soup can help them stay on top of their game both on and off the field. When you discover the secret Mom Cave in Clay’s locker, you might just wish you could have one too, complete with an endless supply of Campbell’s® ChunkyTM soup served with tender loving care!
Clay is also helping us kick off the season with three new soups inspired by a classic sports pub menu: Hearty Cheeseburger, Spicy Chicken Quesadilla and, in the tradition of our neighbor across the river, Philly-Style Cheesesteak. We have also launched improved recipes for longtime favorites New England Clam Chowder, Old-fashioned Vegetable Beef and Beef with Country Vegetables.
Because Clay is known for his big plays on the field, coming up with the theme for our traditional “Mama’s Boy” tie-in hunger relief program was an easy call. Through “Sacks for Soup,” every time Clay sacks an opposing team’s quarterback during the 2013 NFL regular season, we’ll donate 1,000 cans of soup to a local food bank in the opposing team’s city, and 1,000 cans to a food bank in Green Bay, Wis. For every one of those sacks, we’ll also donate $1,000 to Clay’s own CM3 Charitable Fund.
It’s a football goal we think is worth cheering about.
