Women of The Dream Puts Teenage Girls On The Road To Success

News

Last year at World Headquarters, Campbell hosted the official launch of the Women of the Dream, a non-profit organization focused on developing African-American girls to help them achieve careers and healthy, productive lifestyles through workshops, mentoring, networking and scholarships. Women of the Dream was started by Leslie Morris, a successful African-American woman and graduate of Simmons College in Boston, Mass.

As an advocate for mentorship and networking, Campbell CEO Denise Morrison is passionate about this program as it has the potential for a profound impact in the company’s hometown of Camden and for the next generation of women. Last May, she addressed the group of teens about recognizing their potential, talent and ambition – encouraging them to aim high.

“As the first woman to lead Campbell in our 145-year history, I feel that I have a responsibility to serve as a role model and mentor for young women and help them open doors of opportunity,” said Morrison at the organization’s kick off meeting. “I want all of you [student mentees] to know that the women in this room stand with you as you begin a journey that can change your lives and help set you on the path to a fulfilling and rewarding life. We’re here to help you soar!”

This organization was highlighted this week by Philadelphia’s Fox 29 news channel as Women of the Dream prepares for its next big event in March. Watch the video here to learn more about the program and how it has impacted young women in Campbell’s hometown.
