Doreen A. Wright to Leave Company After Seven Years as CIO
CAMDEN, N.J.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–June 24, 2008–Campbell Soup Company (NYSE:CPB) today announced the appointment of Joseph Spagnoletti, 43, as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. Spagnoletti will report to Campbell President and Chief Executive Officer, Douglas R. Conant.
Spagnoletti succeeds Doreen A. Wright, who led the successful implementation of SAP across the majority of Campbell’s North American operations. Spagnoletti’s appointment is effective August 1, 2008.
Spagnoletti will be responsible for overseeing Campbell’s global information technology (IT) function and providing IT strategy that will help Campbell meet its business goals. He will continue to advance the strategic IT agenda established by Wright and further develop Campbell’s IT organization into a world-class global function. Spagnoletti will be responsible for completing Campbell’s SAP implementation and delivering the full benefits of the enterprise resource system for the company. He will lead Campbell’s worldwide IT department and manage all technical and application information systems.
Conant said, “Joe Spagnoletti was selected for this critical role for the character, competence and teamwork he has exhibited during his 11-year career at Campbell. Joe brings a keen business and industry acumen to the role, and he has consistently delivered value beyond the IT function. His appointment reflects the strength of our IT management team and is a testament to Doreen Wright’s leadership of the function. I fully anticipate a smooth transition due to our strong IT organization, Joe’s knowledge of our company, the IT department and its systems, and the close partnership he and Doreen have had for many years.”
Commenting on Wright’s departure, Conant said, “Doreen will leave a lasting legacy on Campbell Soup Company, both within the IT department and beyond. She has made important contributions to Campbell’s transformation over the past seven years. From an IT perspective, she has led the establishment of a global operating model for the IT function and the strategic and operational leadership of our SAP implementation. Beyond her functional role, Doreen has tangibly improved employee engagement at Campbell through her work with the Office of Diversity, her involvement in Campbell’s employee networks and her dedication to mentoring programs. I wish Doreen well as she leaves Campbell to spend more time on her life-long passion of supporting the arts. She will be greatly missed.”
Spagnoletti has more than 20 years of IT and management experience. He joined Campbell in 1997 as Director IT – Food Service and held several positions of increasing responsibility within the IT function. Most recently, he was Vice President – IT for Campbell North America where he successfully led several key projects, including the implementation of a trade management system and oversight of North American SAP implementations. Prior to Campbell, Spagnoletti spent seven years as an IT Director at Becton Dickinson. He started his IT career at Hospital Computer Systems and also worked at CIC/DISC.
Spagnoletti earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Albright College in 1986. He serves on Camden, N.J.-based Cooper Health System’s Audit/Ethics Committee.
