CAMDEN, N.J., Sep 07, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Campbell Soup Company(NYSE:CPB) today donated 150 cases of Campbell’s Chunky soup to the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank in ceremonies held during the P&G NW Arkansas Championship presented by Walmart. Tournament officials also announced a $5,000 cash contribution to the Food Bank as part of its overall charitable program. The LPGA tournament is being held this week at the Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers, Ark.
Charles Nevin, Campbell’s Vice President – Team Walmart, said, “Campbell is committed to advancing corporate social responsibility in everything we do. We are committed to addressing hunger in the towns where we operate. We can help address this challenging issue right here in Northwest Arkansas with our donation of Campbell’s Chunky soup.” Each case of Campbell’s Chunky soup contains 12 cans, which means the food bank will be receiving 1,800 cans of soup – or approximately 2,000 pounds of high-quality food.
Campbell has a long tradition of supporting hunger relief across the country and in local communities where it operates. The company provides on-going product donation support to Feeding America, which operates over 200 food banks across the U.S. In addition, Campbell’s brands support the National Association of Letter Carrier’s “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive in May and the company’s support also makes it possible for the Students In a Free Enterprise (SIFE) organization to conduct its annual “Let’s Can Hunger” competition.
