Press Releases

CAMDEN, N.J.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Nov. 20, 2009–
Campbell Soup Company (NYSE:CPB) has been named to the Special
Recognition list as part of the 2009 Top Companies for Leaders in North
America. Conducted by Hewitt Associates, a global consulting and
outsourcing company, in partnership with The RBL Group, a strategic HR
and leadership systems advisory firm, and Fortune, the Global Top
Companies for Leaders is the most comprehensive study of organizational
leadership in the world.

In North America, an expert panel of independent judges selected and
ranked winners based on criteria including strength and depth of
leadership practices, culture, examples of developing world class
leaders, business performance and company reputation. A small number of
companies began to emerge as companies to watch. These were
organizations that distinguished themselves in their progress,
commitment and innovation in delivering on the leadership agenda.

In receiving this designation, Campbell has been recognized as a company
that fosters leadership, has strong business performance and a
reputation for valuing its employees. Since 2001, Campbell has embarked
on a transformation journey and implemented plans to engage its
workforce and revitalize its marketplace performance. The company’s
improved leadership capabilities have been critical in Campbell’s
progress to date. The company offers a variety of training and
development programs to provide employees with opportunities to sharpen
current skills and further prepare themselves for the next step in their
careers, including a focused effort on developing leaders at all levels.

“Hewitt would like to congratulate Campbell as being named as a Company
to Watch in the 2009 Top Companies for Leaders,” said Bob Gandossy,
global practice leader for Hewitt’s Leadership Consulting practice. “We
believe these companies go above and beyond to strengthen their
leadership practices and focus on building leadership capability to
overcome major organizational challenges. These efforts make a
difference, and while Campbell may not qualify as a Top Company in every
leadership category, they are clearly on the move and a company to
watch.”

Nancy Reardon, Campbell’s Chief Human Resources and Communications
Officer, said, “Our formula for success is based on winning in the
workplace, winning in the marketplace and winning in the community. To
realize these goals, we have created a strong leadership model based on
value-driven, character-based behaviors. Each Campbell employee must
demonstrate these leadership behaviors for us to achieve our mission of
becoming the world’s most extraordinary food company by nourishing
people’s lives everywhere, every day. We are proud to be recognized as a
company to watch and look forward to improving the strength and depth of
our leadership practices.”
