CAMDEN, N.J.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Aug. 10, 2005–Campbell’s(R) Labels for Education(TM) program announced today that it will become a Proud Sponsor of National Parent Teacher Association. It marks the first time that Labels for Education (LFE) has entered into a partnership with the PTA. As part of the agreement, LFE will have a variety of sponsorship rights and opportunities to provide information about LFE and other programs to PTA members. Additionally, Campbell also announced that it has signed teen soccer star Freddy Adu to become the latest ambassador for the Labels for Education program.
“We are very excited to be a sponsor of the National PTA,” said Anne Pizarro, Director of Campbell’s Labels for Education. “It is a natural fit for Campbell because our mission to encourage community involvement in education aligns with the mission of the National PTA. We look forward to developing a strong relationship with the organization and jointly building a brighter future in education. “
As part of the sponsorship, Campbell’s Labels for Education will have the ability to send communications to over 26,000 local PTAs. Labels for Education will also utilize the Proud Sponsor of National PTA logo on collateral materials. The National PTA web site, www.pta.org, will include a logo and link to the Campbell’s Labels for Education website, www.labelsforeducation.com. Labels for Education will also be a sponsor of the PTA’s 2005 Back to School efforts.
“With support from generous sponsors like Campbell’s, National PTA is able to provide the best programs and resources to all families,” said National PTA President Anna Weselak. “We appreciate that Campbell’s shares our commitment to improving the lives of America’s children.”
The Campbell’s Labels for Education program will also be honoring parents who demonstrate outstanding dedication and contribution to their child’s school and students through a nationwide contest that was launched on August 5. Entries for the “SOUPer Parent Contest” will be comprised of an essay of 200 words (maximum) on the topic “Tell us about your classroom SOUPer Parent.” Winning SOUPer Parents in each of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia will be selected and will be awarded a 10,000 Labels for Education bonus certificate to be given to the school of the winner’s choice.
Serving as an ambassador for Labels for Education and the “SOUPer Parent Contest” is teen soccer sensation, Freddy Adu. For the past two years, he has been a forward for D.C. United, the 2004 MLS Cup Champion, and during that time became the youngest player to ever appear in a Major League Soccer game. Freddy knows firsthand the importance of parental involvement because his mother has provided him with the support that has led to his success as a young professional athlete. He joins Olympic gold medalist figure skater Sarah Hughes as Labels for Education program ambassadors.
